 Court of Appeal Upholds Three Years Conviction of Ex-Imo Commissioner The Imo State Division of Court of Appeal, has upheld the conviction and three-year sentence of Prince Laseberry Okafor Anyanwu, a former Commissioner of Transport in the Rochas Okorocha administration of Imo State, for N180, 000, 000 (One Hundred and Eighty Million Naira, only) fraud. Anyanwu was arraigned by the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on November 26, 2020 before Justice E. F. Njemanze of the Imo State High Court on a four-count charge bordering on abuse of office and fraudulent diversion of N180, 000, 000 (One Hundred and Eighty Million Naira only). The convict, whilst serving as  Commissioner of Transport under Okorochas' administration, diverted the said sum from the account of the Imo State Transport Company to Oma Oil and Industries Limited, a company in which he has interest, through phony contracts.   FG Approves National Industrial Relations Policy to Curb Strikes, Engages Striking Nurses The Federal Government has approved the National Industrial Relations Policy (NIRP) 2025 to regulate trade union activities and reduce frequent industrial actions in Nigeria. The announcement was made on Thursday following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Bola Tinubu, as part of efforts to foster harmonious workplace relations. Briefing State House correspondents, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, explained that the NIRP addresses the absence of a comprehensive policy, which has fueled recurrent strikes. “This policy is essential for regulating the conduct of trade unions and promoting social dialogue and tripartite cooperation among government, employers, and workers,” Idris said.  Husband didn’t ban me from acting, says Ego Boyo Seasoned actress and producer Ego Boyo has explained her exit from acting in an interview with Chude Jideonwo. Contrary to speculation the husband prohibited her from acting, Ego stated that she made a conscious decision to leave due to the growing passion for movie production. She explained that she found acting unfulfilling and preferred the creative control and challenges that came with producing. “I left acting when I found out that I enjoyed producing more than acting. It was boring. The blogs wanted it to be something like my husband banned me from it, they wanted it to be sensational and it was not,” she said. Ego’s assertion puts to rest the narrative that her husband had a hand in her decision to quit acting. With a career spanning decades, she said it was her own desire to explore other aspects of the industry that led her to shift her focus.

 FG approve promotion for 100 FRSC commanders The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 51 Corps Commanders and 49 Deputy Corps Commanders in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). FRSC spokesman, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, announced this in a statement on Thursday. He said the approval was granted by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, who serves as the supervising authority of the FRSC. According to him, the approval entails the elevation of 51 Deputy Corps Commanders to the rank of Corps Commander, 49 Assistant Corps Commanders to the rank of Deputy Corps Commander. The FRSC spokesman said that the SGF expressed satisfaction with the “transparency and merit-based” approach of the exercise, and commended the Corps’ leadership for maintaining objectivity and professionalism.  Uba Sani: I didn’t give bandits money… I built houses for victims of banditry Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has denied allegations that he gave money to bandits, saying instead that his administration has built houses for victims of banditry in the state. The governor spoke on Thursday in an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme. Sani recalled that when he assumed office as the governor, critics accused him of trying to pay bandits to solve the insecurity challenge in the state. “I told them that a man who fought for justice and freedom of the downtrodden cannot sit down with bandits,” he said. The governor said just two weeks ago, he launched a programme to provide houses for victims of insurgency, rather than compensating bandits. “I have not given one naira to the bandits, but I have built houses for the victims of banditry in Kaduna,” he added.
