Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. According to some residents in Ile-Ife today saturday said that the palace town criers were going round the town announcing that residents especially commercial drivers and motorcyclists should stay indoors between 7a.m and 6pm.That will enable the Oro deity perform the necessary rite for the late Ooni of Ife.It was gathered that the Head of the Oro cult in Ife,the Awara of Iwara,Oba Layi Adereti had ordered the curfew,warning that anyone who flouted the order,irrespective of age or gender would face its consequences.However,residents were apprehensive of the curfew,that they rushed to the few available markets to get essentials that will last them for the day.Since last week friday,major market in Ife had been shut down ever since the burial rites started.As a result of the curfew,some Heads of Departments in the Obafemi Aolowo University,Ile-Ife cancelled the continuous assessment tests for their students earlier scheduled to hold on today saturday.Many residents as well as the Okada riders had thought the mourning period would end yesterday August 21,but they were surprised when they heard the stay at home order extends till today.More photos below.
