 Trial begins of Central African ex-president Bozize over war crimes A UN-backed court in the the Central African Republic will on Tuesday begin the trial in absentia of former president Francois Bozize, over crimes against humanity committed between 2009 and 2013. The alleged crimes committed by members of Bozize's security forces include murder, enforced disappearance, torture and rape. Bozize, 79, who seized power in a 2003 coup before being overthrown 10 years later by rebels, has been living in exile in Guinea-Bissau since March 2023. But three of his former senior military officers, Eugene Barret Ngaikosset, Vianney Semndiro and Firmin Junior Danboy, are all in pre-trial detention in the Central African Republic. Crimes against humanity The case will be heard by the Special Criminal Court (SCC), a hybrid jurisdiction located in the capital Bangui with Central African and foreign judges. Police rescues 75 years old man after 2 months in captivity

The Zamfara Police Command has rescued a seventy-five year old man, Mohammadu Sheshi, a native of Enagi in Edati LGA of Niger State after two months in captivity.

The rescue operation was made possible following the receipt of an intelligence report regarding his abduction.

In a statement by the Zamfara Police Command Public relations officer, SP Mohammed Shehu which was made available to the Nigeria Police Radio, 99.1 FM, Abuja, in the course of debriefing, the victim informed the Police that he was abducted in early October, 2022. 

His captors according to him were large number of armed bandits who blocked Birnin Gwari - Kaduna road and took others into the bush somewhere in Dansadau axis of Zamfara state. 

The victim while at the Police Command Headquarters, Gusau was medically checked at the Police clinic facility and later re-United with his family/Relations.

The Commissioner of Police CP Yusuf Kolo while congratulating the rescued victim. assures the public of the Police continuous commitment to protect lives and property of the citizens.
