 Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. He further stated that the proposed 2026 budget by the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission stands at ₦117.28 billion, with KADIRS expected to generate ₦74.28 billion, while Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are projected to generate ₦43.24 billion.  NRC Blames Recent Abuja-Kaduna Train Derailment On Vandals


Following the derailment of an Abuja-Kaduna train at the Asham station in the Chikun area of Kaduna State, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has blamed the action on vandals.


The incident occurred at 3:52 pm on Wednesday shortly after the train departed the Kubwa station in the nation’s capital.


In a statement, the NRC said the train “experienced train technical hitch in our operation at Asham Railway Station in Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State.”


“This minor hitch is attributed to the removal of track fastening clips by vandals,” the statement signed by the corporation’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, read.


“However, the NRC Management remains resolute towards ensuring the safety of our valued passengers in the entire system.”


Earlier, the agency said it would cancel the first train scheduled for Thursday, June 6 from Kaduna State.


It, however, assured that other train services would go on as planned, apologising to the public for any inconvenience the action may cause.


“For operational reasons, the first train from Kaduna (Rigasa) scheduled for 08.00 hours will be cancelled on Thursday 6th June 2024 only, while all other train services will run as scheduled.


“NRC Management deeply regrets the inconveniences that this technical hitch might have caused our esteemed passengers,” Mahmood said.


This is not the first time a train will derail in Kaduna State. On May 26, 2024, a train conveying passengers from Abuja to Kaduna derailed at Jere in Kaduna State.
