FIFA Introduces $60 World Cup Tickets Amid Fan Backlash FIFA has launched a new $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, covering all 104 matches. The tickets, aimed at fans of qualified teams, make up 10% of each national federation’s allotment. The move follows widespread criticism over high prices, with fan groups and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer calling the measure insufficient. FIFA said refunds will waive administrative fees for knockout-stage tickets if a team is eliminated early. The first ticket draw will be held on January 13, 2026.

 Prolific London child abuser Muhammad Talukdar jailed 14 years

   

Muhammad Talukdar, 51, a prolific child abuser, has been jailed for 14 years by the Snaresbrook Crown Court for sexually abusing a female child.

Talukdar, 51 of Ballance Street, Bath, was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 31 May.

According to the Met Police, Talukdar began sexually abusing the victim in 1998 when she was just eight years old in Tower Hamlets, east London.

The police said specialist officers began investigating in 2020 and that despite having no DNA evidence or recent witness accounts to help strengthen the investigation, officers remained determined to build a case against Talukdar.

The police said they carried out extensive interviews with friends and family of the victim as part of their enquiries and gathered detailed medical records to show the extent of abuse, as the victim also gave permission for notes from her counselling sessions to be shared.

Talukdar was previously found guilty of three counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault at Snaresbrook Crown Court in March 2024.

“We would urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you so rightly deserve,” he added.
