 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey.  Wale Edun submits minimum wage cost to Tinubu


The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has submitted the projected cost implications of implementing a new national minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu.


The minister submitted the cost proposal to the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, following a 48-hour ultimatum issued to him on Tuesday.


The report outlines several potential new minimum wage levels along with the anticipated fiscal impacts on the federal budget of each option.


Recall that organised labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress had embarked on a nationwide strike on Monday to demand an increased minimum wage for workers and the reversal of the recently increased electricity tariffs.


However, the labour union leadership suspended the strike on Tuesday for five days after signing a commitment with the federal government to resume negotiations and come up with a new minimum wage within a week.
