DENSE FOG BROUGHT AIR TRAVEL TO A STAND STILL AT GUWAHATI'S BORJHAR AIRPORT ON FRIDAY. (PHOTO).

Dense fog brought air travel to a standstill at Guwahati’s Borjhar Airport on Friday, causing chaos and distress among passengers. Beginning early in the morning at 6 AM, 58 flights scheduled to land at the airport were canceled due to poor visibility. Travelers were left stranded and uncertain about their plans as operations came to a halt.

The cancellations disrupted the schedules of hundreds of passengers, many of whom expressed frustration over the lack of updates and clarity from airlines. Crowded waiting areas and growing dissatisfaction among travelers created an atmosphere of confusion at the airport. Several passengers demanded better communication and support during such weather-related disruptions.

After hours of uncertainty, operations resumed at 11:19 AM when Akasa Air’s flight from Mumbai became the first aircraft to land. The successful landing brought relief to passengers and authorities but also highlighted the heavy impact of the weather on flight schedules. By then, most travelers had already experienced significant delays and inconvenience.

Weather-related disruptions are not uncommon during the winter months in Guwahati, as dense fog often reduces visibility. Authorities have advised passengers to stay updated about flight statuses during this period and prepare for potential delays to avoid further inconvenience.
