AN INDIANA MOM LEFT HER 1-WEEK-OLD BABY AND 1-YEAR-OLD HOME ALONE TO GO DRINKING AND TGEN WRECKED HER CAR. SHE WAS ARRESTED AND WOULD NOT TELL THE POLICE WHERE HER CHILDREN WERE LOCATED. (PHOTO).

An Indiana mom left her 1-week-old baby and 1-year-old home alone to go drinking and then wrecked her car. She then got arrested and would not tell the police where her children were located.

Police in Muncie, Indiana were called to the scene of an accident on March 12th. Once on scene they discovered 32-year-old Sandra Henriquez had struck a pole with her vehicle.

Police report that Henriquez seemed intoxicated with slurred speech while speaking with officers. Officers at the time noticed a car seat and began asking Henriquez where her children were at. Henriquez denied having children initially but later admitted she had children... but would not disclose their location.

Police took her to the hospital for evaluation before booking her into jail where she was again asked about her children. She still would not disclose her children's location.

Officers would get a break when neighbors of Henriquez called police around 2:30 p.m.,  to report 2 babies crying in a home. The caller informed officers that a toddler and a newborn baby were locked in the home.

When police arrived on scene they forced entry into the home and found a 1-year-old and a 1-week-old covered in feces. The newborn was described as "urgently cyanotic" (blue in color due to lack of sufficient oxygen). Officials report the baby weighed less than when it was born, saying the infant had blue hands and feet. There was also a dog locked in a cage with no food or water and open alcohol in the home.

Both children were rushed to a nearby hospital where staff were forced to use a feeding tube on the infant. The 1-year-old appeared to be in good health after being cleaned up.

After interviewing Henriquez again, police determined the children had been left alone and locked inside the home for approximately 14 hours while Henriquez went to a local bar and eventually crashed her car leading to her arrest.

Sandra Henriquez is being charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, as well as a second charge of neglect of a dependent and  abandonment. She is being held on a $42,500 bond.
