ASUBEB Urges Teachers To Uphold Standards

By Rita Okonkwo

The Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr. Vera Nwadinobi has called on school teachers and administrators to continue upholding high standards, commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Nwadinobi made this plea on April 29 during an unscheduled visit to some primary schools in the State, which include: State Model Nursery and Primary School, Iyiagu; Community Primary School, Okpuno; and Agulu-Awka Primary School Awka, marking the resumption of a new academic term.

During the visit, it was observed that some schools were fully prepared for the academic term while others were still tidying up their environment; a task that should have been completed ahead of resumption.

She commended the schools with strong preparedness and encouraged others with noticeable gaps to address them promptly.

The Chairman attributed the visible improvement in staff attendance and punctuality to the ongoing education reforms, known as "Soludo Solutions" under Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration; a positive shift in school culture.

She also acknowledged challenges such as the absence of perimeter fencing in some schools which has led to security concerns, and assured that the state government will address these concerns, stressing that infrastructural improvements would be prioritized under the upcoming disbursement of the 2022–2024 counterpart funds.

Expressing gratitude for the ongoing investments in the State education sector, the headteacher of  Agulu-Awka Primary School Awka, Mrs. Winifred Umeadi thanked Anambra State government, as well as the ASUBEB Chairman for proactive oversight and dedication to enhancing basic education in the state.
