 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey.  SENATE MINORITY CAUCUS SAYS ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION NOT REJECTED IN PASSED ELECTORAL BILL


The Senate Minority Caucus says electronic transmission of election results was not rejected by the senate during the clause by clause consideration of electoral act amendment bill as  reported by some sections of the media.


The Senate on Wednesday passed the bill at plenary.


Leading the minority Caucus to brief the media, Senator Enyinnnaya Abaribe explains that what section 60 sub 3 of the electoral act, states is "results from each polling unit will be transmitted to IREV portal in real time after the prescribed  form EC8 has been signed and stamped by presiding officer and countersigned by candidates or polling agents available at the polling unit.


The Caucus assures Nigerians that it will also ensure that what was collectively agreed to during the clause by clause consideration is what is reflected in the votes and proceedings of the sitting of the electoral bill passage.
