 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music. LAGOS NSCDC TAKES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON ASSETS, INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION TO ETI - OSA, LEKKI, IRU VICTORIA ISLAND, IBEJU DIVISIONS.


In line with the directive of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD., mni, OFR, the  Lagos State Command has taken its ongoing community engagement with stakeholders on all the items covering the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure ( CNAI ) in the country to the following Divisions of the command; Eti - Osa, Lekki, Ibeju and Iru Victoria Island under the Area F Command in Eti - Osa Local Government  yesterday, Tuesday, 10th March, 2026. 


The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, who was ably represented by the Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps Kolawole Agbetiloye told the stakeholders at the community engagement event that the sensitization campaign was aimed towards reducing the cases of vandalism on telecommunications -  fibre optic cables, blockage of access to sites, vandalization of transformers , removal of manholes on the roads and illegal scrap dealings amongst others.


The Lagos State Commandant seized the meeting to warn against the destruction of fibre optic cables, irons often laid underneath the ground by telecommunication and construction engineers respectively.


The Lagos State Commandant charged all stakeholders in attendance to report suspected cases of vandalism in their communities to the offices of the NSCDC closer to them or through the emergency numbers of the state; 112, 767 and the public relations unit of the command; +2348163597310.


The Executive Chairman, of Eti - Osa Local Government Area ( LGA ), Honourable Omo'ba ( Dr )Adeola Alimot Adetoro ably represented by the Secretary to the LGA, Mr Fadipe Olajide commended the efforts of the NSCDC in ensuring safety and security in the LGA. He commended the initiative led by the NSCDC in Lagos to ensure assets and infrastructure protection in the area .


The SLG of Eti - Osa LGA, charged the members of the Corps  under the Area F Command, to continue the sensitization to the communities due to its significance to fostering protection and security.


The representative of the market leader of New Road Market, Mrs Atewolara Iyabo also sought the NSCDC to give their union more support to complement the already established security in their market places..


All stakeholders resolve at the event to take responsibility towards the collective protection of CNAI in their communities. They resolved to protect manholes, fiber optic cables, rail sleepers, power installations, telecommunications and all others from untoward attack by vandals, shenanigans, miscreants and all unscrupulous elements in their communities moving forward.


The representative of Car Dealers' Association of Eti - Osa, Mr Adenihun Adebayo sought for more patrol at night so that the NSCDC can put and end to vandalism of motor vehicles by hoodlums in the axis.


The Area Commander, Area F Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps Samson Ajayi and the Divisional Officers of Area F Command were also present to engage stakeholders during the interactive sessions well moderated at the event. 


The event drew goodwill messages from the representatives of the Eti - Osa LGA, Nigeria Immigration Service , Federal Road Safety Corps , LASRRA,  et ce tera.
