Public Appeal As Elderly Kaduna Woman Allegedly Evicted Over Witchcraft Accusation

An elderly woman, believed to be over 70 years old, has reportedly been left homeless after she was allegedly forcefully evicted from her residence by her biological children in New Karu, Nasarawa State.

The woman, identified as a member of the Ninzo tribe from Southern Kaduna, was said to have been accused of witchcraft and subjected to blackmail, leading to her removal from the home she reportedly built with her late husband.

According to community sources, she was left to sleep on the streets for more than three days.

The incident, which was captured in a video now circulating on social media, has generated widespread concern among residents and advocacy groups.

Following the intervention of the Dung Community Development Association (DCDA), Abuja, and SOKAPU, her belongings were returned to the house after extensive dialogue with her children.

However, there are reports of continued threats of eviction and concerns about her safety, including alleged threats to her life.

Community members and advocates are calling on the Ninzo Association, the Karu Local Government Authority, the Nasarawa State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and human rights organizations across the country to urgently intervene to ensure her protection and safety.

The incident reportedly occurred along Church Road, opposite New Manchester Hotel & Resort, New Karu, in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Stakeholders are urging the relevant authorities to take swift action to safeguard the woman’s rights, dignity, and well-being as investigations continue.
