 Trump FEMA nominee Cameron Hamilton promises 'fair and reasonable' approach to disaster aid as confirmation hearing advances     Cameron Hamilton, President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told senators Wednesday he would handle disaster aid decisions in a “fair and reasonable” manner as he seeks confirmation to head an agency facing continued uncertainty over its future. Hamilton previously served briefly as FEMA’s acting leader in 2025 before being dismissed after publicly opposing efforts to eliminate the agency. His nomination comes amid shifting signals from the administration, which has recently stepped back from earlier suggestions that FEMA could be dismantled. He was first appointed interim administrator in January 2025, shortly before the president raised the possibility of eliminating FEMA altogether. As Africans, we are one; let's leave politics to politicians and play football - South Africa captain Ronwen Williams urges football fans in Africa and other countries to unite.


Recall that South Africa's FIFA World Cup campaign got off to a disappointing start with a 2 - 0 defeat to Mexico in their opening match, and they finished the game with nine men after two players were sent off.


The result quickly became a trending topic across social media, with other African nations taking the opportunity to drag South Africa.


The reactions were influenced by the repeated xenophobic attacks in South Africa that have targeted migrants from other African nations, including Nigeria and Ghana. Those incidents sparked widespread condemnation across the continent and forced many affected migrants to flee their homes and return to their countries of origin.


Ahead of South Africa’s next fixture against Czechia, Ronwen has appealed to Africans to unite as one.
