 CBN limits card issuing, merchant acquiring market share for financial institutions The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced new measures aimed at curbing market concentration in the country’s payments ecosystem, including limits on the market share operators can hold across card issuing and merchant acquiring services. Card issuing refers to the provision of payment cards to customers, while merchant acquiring involves processing card payments on behalf of businesses. In a circular signed by Rakiya Yusuf, director of the payments system supervision department, on Monday, the apex bank said the measures are aimed at addressing concerns over market concentration, operational dependence, systemic importance and the localisation of payment transaction data. Coal City University Commences Review of Recent Incident Involving Student and Staff


Coal City University is aware of concerns arising from a video currently circulating on social media regarding an incident involving a student and members of staff.


The University takes this matter seriously. At the time the initial disciplinary action was taken, Management acted strictly based on the official information and reports available at that time.


Subsequently, additional material, including video evidence, was brought to the attention of Management. In line with its commitment to fairness, due process, and institutional accountability, the University has commenced a comprehensive review of all aspects of the incident.


The University assures students, parents, staff, and the general public that all relevant facts will be carefully examined, and appropriate action will be taken against any individual found culpable, whether student or staff. The staff member involved has been stepped down from all duties pending the outcome of the review process.


The University reiterates its unwavering commitment to justice, discipline, and the protection of the integrity and values of the University community.
