The television world is mourning the loss of James Burrows, the legendary director behind some of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. Stars from his many shows shared heartfelt tributes, recalling his influence and generosity. 


Tony Danza, Danny DeVito, and Rhea Perlman reflected on his early work on Taxi and Cheers, praising his unmatched craft and spirit. Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc remembered his pivotal role in shaping Friends, with Kudrow posting a photo from the set and LeBlanc calling him a “true icon.” 


Alyssa Milano described working with him on Romantically Challenged as a gift, while Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings recalled his warmth and humor during 2 Broke Girls.

Burrows’ family confirmed his peaceful passing, remembering him as a mentor and creative force who shaped generations of comedy. For the actors and colleagues who worked with him, his guidance and laughter left an indelible mark. 


From the pilot of Taxi to the revival of The Comeback, Burrows’ career embodied both innovation and compassion, ensuring his legacy will live on in the countless performances and shows he helped bring to life.
