Diversion of LG Funds Not Possible Without EFCC, ICPC Knowledge – Shehu Sani Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has tackled anti-corruption agencies, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over the diversion of local governments allocations to state governments. Senator Sani raised his concerns on Sunday in a post via his verified Twitter handle. Recall that the Federal Government recently accused state governors of diverting local governments’ allocations. The President had at an event on Thursday alleged that some state governors divert allocation to local governments councils sent from the federation account. However, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State rebuffed the claim by FG, saying it should come out clear by naming the culprits, instead of making a generalized allegation. Abuja-Kaduna Train Resumes Operations Monday The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, says the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train service would resume on Monday, with only two return services. Managing Director of the NRC, Fidel Okhiria, made this disclosure in a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday. The statement explained that the first train service is slated to depart Rigasa Train in Kaduna by 8:00 am to Abuja while in Abuja, the Idu train station will leave for Kaduna by 9:30 am. The NRC management reiterated that as part of the new security measures, it is now mandatory for passengers to present their National Identity Number and valid Boarding Ticket before being allowed to board. Also, NRC said it would not allow ticket sales by proxy except for minors. It added that ticket sales would commence on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 8:00 am. Recall that the NRC suspended train service along the route after Boko Haram terrorists attacked a moving passenger train in Kaduna on March 28, 2022. ...

Police rescues 75 years old man after 2 months in captivity Omeiza Balogun The Zamfara Police Command has rescued a seventy-five year old man, Mohammadu Sheshi, a native of Enagi in Edati LGA of Niger State after two months in captivity. The rescue operation was made possible following the receipt of an intelligence report regarding his abduction. In a statement by the Zamfara Police Command Public relations officer, SP Mohammed Shehu which was made available to the Nigeria Police Radio, 99.1 FM, Abuja, in the course of debriefing, the victim informed the Police that he was abducted in early October, 2022.  His captors according to him were large number of armed bandits who blocked Birnin Gwari - Kaduna road and took others into the bush somewhere in Dansadau axis of Zamfara state.  The victim while at the Police Command Headquarters, Gusau was medically checked at the Police clinic facility and later re-United with his family/Relations. Jigawa Police arrest couple for burying new baby alive  Omeiza Balogun  The Jigawa Police Command have arrested a couple Amadu Sale alias Dan Kwairo and Balaraba Shehu for burying their new born baby alive.  In a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam which was made available to the Nigeria Police Radio, 99.1FM, Abuja; explained that intel at Command's disposal revealed that, one Balaraba Shehu 'f' 30yrs of Tsurma village, Kiyawa LGA was suspected to have given birth and buried the new born baby. According to DSP Adam in the statement, on receipt of the hideous report, a team of Policemen mobilized and proceeded to the scene of the crime and on arrival, detectives swung into action and exhumed the new born baby from the toilet, where it was buried by the suspected mother.
