The Operatives provided financial support for the treatment, while five of the victims are responding to medical treatment, unfortunately, one was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. Buhari sacks Giadom as HYPREP Project coordinator  The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday, approved the termination of the appointment of the Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, Dr Giadom Dumbari.  He also approved the appointment of Professor Nanibarini Zabbey as the new HYREP Chief.  This is according to a tweet sighted by The PUNCH on the official Twitter handle of the Nigerian Presidency, @NGRPresident, which announced the change of leadership late Tuesday.  It read “President @MBuhari has approved the termination of the appointment of the @HYPREPNigeria Project Coordinator, Dr. Ferdinand Giadom, and the appointment of Prof. Nanibarini Zabbey as the new Project Coordinator, with immediate effect.”  Giadom who was appointed by the President in early March for a tenure of four years leaves office after barely 14 months.Related News The announcement was contained In a statement by the Federal Ministry...

Nigerian Army announces recruitment results, urges applicants to check portal 3 May 2023  The Nigerian Army has urged applicants who applied for the 85 Regular Recruits Intake in 2023 to visit its portal to check the list of shortlisted candidates. The Army made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, stating that the state recruitment screening exercise is scheduled to commence from May 8–21, 2023, in all 36 states and in Abuja. The Nigerian Army also published the list of documents that shortlisted candidates must report with during their respective states of origin for the screening exercise. Shortlisted applicants must come with their original copies of WASCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB certificates in a file jacket, Printed Bank Verification Number (BVN) certificate authenticated by a bank. Protest in Enugu over assassination of ex-Gov aspirant, missing monarch 3 May 2023  Protests have erupted in the Enugu metropolis over the alleged killing of a former governorship aspirant in the just-concluded general elections and a community leader in Ozalla community in Nkanu West Local Government Area, Engr. Dons Udeh. The community also protested the continuous missing of its traditional ruler, Igwe Donald Nwochi, who was last seen on December 24, 2021 as well as others who left their homes and never returned. EFCC Arraigns Man for Land Fraud in Maiduguri The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, May 3, 2022, arraigned one Mallam Ali Dala before Justice B.M Umar of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on a three count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and forgery to the tune of N800,000 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira only). The defendant fraudulently collected the said sum from Mohammed Zailani for the purchase of a plot of land located behind the Federal Road Safety Corps’ office, Maiduguri, Borno State. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him by EFCC. Counsel for the prosecution, A. A Ayenshola prayed the court to remand the defendant and fix a date for the trial to commence.
