 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey. IN ANAMBRA: POLICE RESCUE SIX ACCIDENT VICTIMS, PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR TREATMENT AND RECOVER THE DAMAGED VEHICLES




_As CP Echeng orders a manhunt of the driver on the run_


Police Operatives attached to Central Police Station Onitsha have rescued six accident victims of a fatal motor accident that occurred by 6 pm today 3/5/2023 along the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway by defunct Nitel Office Onitsha. The Operatives provided financial support for the treatment, while five of the victims are responding to medical treatment, unfortunately, one was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. The operatives also recover one Howo truck with Reg Nos: AWK 899 ZQ, One diahatsu shuttle bus with Reg nos AKL 978 and one Mitsubishi L300 bus with Reg nos SKA 439 XA.


Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police *CP Echeng Echeng* has ordered an immediate manhunt for the driver of the truck on the run as preliminary information from the eyewitnesses reveals that the driver was reckless.
