Federation Account Accrues N5.2tr From Jan–June 2023 The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation And Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) says that a total sum of N5.2 trillion has accrued into the Federation Account for the period January to June 2023. This is as captured in the monthly report to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). In a press statement signed by the RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Bello Shehu, the Commission says that out of the total gross revenue inflows into the Federation Account, the sum of N627 billion was NNPCL JV Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) due, captured and recorded by the FIRS, but utilised by the NNPCL for other FGN obligations. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) remitted the sum of N823 billion while the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) made a gross collection of N3.6 trillion but remitted N3.02 trillion, retaining the difference as cost of collection. Tribunal Nullifies Abba Kabir's Election, Declares Gawuna as Kano Governor  The Kano State Election Petition Tribunal,on Wednesday, nullified the election of Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf, of NNPP. Delivering the judgement, the three-man panel led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, held that the margin of votes scored by NNPP were invalid and was not conducted in compliance with the 2022 electoral act. The tribunal therefore declared Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of All Progressive Congress as the winner of the March 18 2023 governorship election

26-year-old Nigerian man bags over eight years imprisonment for dealing drĂ¼gs in the UK A 26-year-old Nigerian man has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment in the UK for dealing drugs. The man identified as Olusegun Babalola, was arrested on Friday, May 19, 2023, after police raided his home in Whitsed Street, Eastfield, as part of an operation into drug dealing and exploitation in Peterborough. Following months of intelligence gathering, police evidenced Babalola had been involved in supplying crack cocaine and heroin in the city as part of a “county lines” operation. The morning police raided his home, officers found more than £7,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine wraps hidden within a tissue box on the kitchen worktop. Auwalu Salisu discovered the money, comprising CFA and Naira, inside his tricycle after dropping his passengers who boarded the tricycle from Yankaba in Kano State.  Salisu, who didn’t know the exact amount, immediately returned to his poor mother with the money. Woman regains freedom after spending 8-months in jail for stealing shirt and cooler The Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee(JDC) has set a middle-aged woman known as Zuwaira Yusuf, free after spending 8 months in prison custody for stealing a shirt and cooler in Adamawa State. Zuwaira, a divorcée was convicted and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for the offence of theft and was serving her jail term at Hong Correctional Center. She was sent to Hong correctional center by the Chief Magistrate Court in Gombi LGA after she was tried and found guilty of theft. On Wednesday, September 20, Yusuf was set free by the State Jail Delivery Committee(JDC) headed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, when the committee visited the correctional center and heard her case.
