 NCoS Debunks Claims of Illegal Detention of Jonathan’s Domestic Staff at Okaka Centre The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Bayelsa State Command has refuted allegations spread across social media platforms claiming the illegal detention of 15 domestic staff members of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Okaka. In a statement released by ASC I G.T. Isari, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, the NCoS described the circulating reports as "false and misleading." These reports alleged that the staff members were detained without trial since 2019 on charges of theft and that there was a secretive meeting involving Dame Patience Jonathan and senior correctional officials in Bayelsa. “These statements are unfounded and are being spread to tarnish the image of the Nigerian Correctional Service,” Isari stated. The top French diplomat was welcomed by his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, at the Foreign Ministry headquarters for talks, the Algerian state television reported. Barrot is expected to hold talks with Algerian officials during his visit to discuss a host of issues between the two countries, the broadcaster said.  Unlimited immigration was our mistake – Kemi Badenoch claims Leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch on Sunday admitted that under her leadership mistakes were made in the country’s immigration system. Badenoch stated this while speaking to Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips. According to her, the Conservative Party is fixing the immigration system at the moment, adding that it is “way too high and needs to be brought down”. “I am tolerant of us being a multi-ethnic country. Yes, obviously, I mean, look at the two of us,” Badenoch said. “But that doesn’t mean that we should just have unlimited immigration. “That’s one of the mistakes that we made, which, under my leadership, Conservative Party is fixing.” Badenoch also noted that the current numbers are causing a “huge strain” on public services so her policy would see people having to contribute going forward.

Ukachukwu secured the party’s ticket with a landslide victory, polling 1,455 votes in the keenly contested election that began on Saturday and lasted until 4:19 a.m. on Sunday. Valentine Ozigbo came a distant second with 67 votes, followed by Johnbosco Onunkwo with 26 votes. Edozie Madu trailed with 8 votes, while 27 votes were declared invalid.
