 PRESS RELEASE RE: ATTACK ON BOYS BRIGADE CAMP IN ZHAYIDNA VILLAGE OROZO — FCT POLICE ARREST THREE SUSPECTS The FCT Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing investigation into the tragic attack on the Boys Brigade camping site in Zhayidna Village Orozo, which resulted in the unfortunate death of one of the campers, Johnson John. Acting on credible intelligence and digital tracking conducted on the mobile phones of the deceased, the Divisional Police Officer Karshi, CSP Mbang Usang led a team of Police operatives, trailed and arrested three suspects in connection with the incident. The suspects arrested include; Stanley Ukweze, Dauda Yohana, and Gemu Adamu, all residents of Wasa Village Karshi.  At the time of arrest, three mobile phones were recovered from the suspects, two of which have been confirmed to belong to the deceased.   Thailand has launched its first AI-powered police robot, named AI Police Cyborg 1.0 or Police Colonel Nakhonpathom Plod Phai, during the Songkran festival in Nakhon Pathom province.  The robot is designed to boost public safety during large gatherings by using artificial intelligence and facial recognition to monitor crowds and detect security threats. The robot, developed with help from local police and city authorities, is not mobile but is equipped with three wide-angle cameras that provide 360-degree surveillance. These cameras gather video from CCTV and drones. Its AI system analyzes the footage in real-time to detect aggressive behavior, unauthorized entry, or hidden weapons. It can also tell the difference between actual threats and harmless objects like water guns used during the Songkran celebration.   SEC Urges Nigerians to Report Illegal Investment Schemes The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has called on the public to report suspected illegal investment schemes for prompt investigation and enforcement action. In a notice issued Thursday, the commission warned against Ponzi schemes and unregistered digital platforms, describing them as threats to the capital market and investor safety. It cautioned against investment opportunities promising guaranteed or unusually high returns with minimal risk. SEC advised Nigerians to verify the registration status of any investment operator via its website and stressed that promoting or operating unregistered schemes is a criminal offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of at least N20 million. “The public must remain vigilant and help protect Nigeria’s investment space by reporting suspicious schemes,” the statement added.
