 Seven Years After, DSS Reopens Investigation Into Dadiyata’s Abduction The Department of State Services has reopened its investigation into the 2019 disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, and is preparing to invite individuals linked to the case for questioning. Dadiyata, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma, was declared missing on August 1, 2019, after armed men reportedly abducted him from his residence in Kaduna.  Nearly seven years later, his whereabouts remain unknown. The renewed probe follows recent public discussions about the case. In a video interview shared by Reno Omokri on X, Dadiyata’s wife, Kadijah, expressed continued concern over her husband’s disappearance and appealed to Nigerians for help in determining whether he is alive. “We pray that one day he will return,” she said, urging authorities and citizens to assist the family in uncovering the truth.  Kanlaon Volcano erupts in Philippines, spewing black ash over 6,500 feet into sky The Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island in the Philippines erupted on Thursday, sending massive plumes of ash into the sky. The eruption occurred at 4:38 p.m. local time and lasted approximately two minutes, according to seismic records. A timelapse released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) captured thick, dark-gray smoke rising more than 6,500 feet above the crater before drifting southwest. PHIVOLCS reported that pyroclastic density currents—fast-moving, superheated mixtures of gas and volcanic material—flowed down the southern and southeastern upper slopes of the volcano, extending over half a mile from the summit crater. An Alert Level 2 remains in effect, and authorities continue to prohibit entry within the 2.5-mile Permanent Danger Zone around the volcano. On Thursday, troops of Sector 4 under 28 Task Force Brigade apprehended 28-year-old Ismail Muhammed, a terrorist logistics supplier, in the Visik General area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.  AGAIN: EARLY MORNING INFERNO GUTS 50 SHOPS IN KANO MARKET  A devastating fire swept through the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in Kano in the early hours of Friday, destroying no fewer than 50 shops and rekindling concerns over recurring market fires in the state. The blaze, which reportedly started around 5:40 a.m., tore through the busy commercial hub before emergency responders could fully contain it. Chairman of the market’s fire committee, Dauda Haruna Chula, confirmed the incident, noting that traders were caught off guard as flames engulfed several stalls. The cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, but the incident has once again sparked fresh calls for improved fire safety measures across major markets in Kano.

B. Shehu, PhD, OFR, has commended His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for signing the Executive Order directing the direct remittance of oil and gas revenues to the Federation Account. The Commission describes the Executive Order as a bold, constitutionally grounded, and fiscally transformative intervention aimed at restoring transparency, eliminating revenue leakages, and strengthening the revenue base of the three tiers of government.
