 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. SAD! Scores Kidnapped As Armed Robbers Block Garaku/Gudi Road

Armed robbers, Wednesday night attacked travellers on the Garaku/Gudi expressway in Nasarawa State. 

The incident occurred around Mararaban Arusu  at the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State where scores of travellers were abducted and whisked away to unknown destination. 

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen also shot no less three passengers who were later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital. 

The gunmen had shot on a heavy duty vehicle where it broke down and slowed traffic on the expressway before carrying out their operations amidst the heavy downpour. 

Efforts to reach the DPO of Garaku Division proved abortive at press time. But a policeman said security operatives have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control and ensure safety of travellers and other road users.
