A prominent South African anti-immigration activist has sparked widespread debate after reportedly telling a court that he could not afford legal representation because he is unemployed. According to reports, the activist told the judge, “I don’t have a lawyer because I don’t work,” a statement that quickly went viral on social media and reignited discussions around unemployment, immigration, and xenophobia in South Africa. The incident has also renewed conversations about anti-immigrant sentiment in the country. SAD! Scores Kidnapped As Armed Robbers Block Garaku/Gudi Road

Armed robbers, Wednesday night attacked travellers on the Garaku/Gudi expressway in Nasarawa State. 

The incident occurred around Mararaban Arusu  at the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State where scores of travellers were abducted and whisked away to unknown destination. 

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen also shot no less three passengers who were later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital. 

The gunmen had shot on a heavy duty vehicle where it broke down and slowed traffic on the expressway before carrying out their operations amidst the heavy downpour. 

Efforts to reach the DPO of Garaku Division proved abortive at press time. But a policeman said security operatives have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control and ensure safety of travellers and other road users.
