PRESS RELEASE Otti's Re-election Claim By Sen. Orji Kalu Is Wishful Thinking, Not Political Reality. The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress wishes to categorically dissociate itself from the comments credited to one of our respected leaders and serving Senator, His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, suggesting that the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party, will be re-elected in 2027. While His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is entitled to his personal opinion as guaranteed by the Constitution, we wish to make it abundantly clear that his remarks do not represent the position, aspirations, or official stand of the APC in Abia State. A PROMINENT SOUTH AFRICAN ANTI-IMMIGRATION ACTIVIST WAS REPORTEDLY TELLING A COURT THAT HE COULD NOT AFFORD LEGAL REPRESENTATION BECAUSE HE IS UNEMPLOYED.(VIDEO/PHOTO).

A prominent South African anti-immigration activist has sparked widespread debate after reportedly telling a court that he could not afford legal representation because he is unemployed.

According to reports, the activist told the judge, “I don’t have a lawyer because I don’t work,” a statement that quickly went viral on social media and reignited discussions around unemployment, immigration, and xenophobia in South Africa.

The incident has also renewed conversations about anti-immigrant sentiment in the country. Over the years, thousands of African migrants have been affected by waves of xenophobic violence, with foreign-owned businesses looted, properties destroyed, and many families forced to flee their communities.

While some South Africans argue that immigrants contribute to unemployment and crime, others contend that the nation’s economic challenges are far more complex. South Africa continues to face some of the highest unemployment rates in the world, alongside deep-rooted issues of poverty and inequality—problems many analysts say cannot be attributed solely to immigration.

The case has once again highlighted the deep divisions surrounding migration, economic hardship, and social tensions in Africa’s most industrialized economy.
