 SECURITY IN ANAMBRA: POLICE AVERT PLANNED CULT CLASH, ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS AND RECOVERS FIREARM AND AMMUNITION IN ENUGWU UKWU Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Special Anti Cult Squad (SPACS) Enugwu Ukwu acting on actionable intelligence received regarding the gathering of a dangerous cult group for a planned rivalry fight in the early hours of 4th December, 2025, swiftly mobilized to the scene and arrested Oluebube Ifediorah ‘M’ aged 21 years and Offorbuike Emmanuel ‘M’ aged 25 years respectively. The suspects were arrested in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area. The team also recovered a locally-made double-barrel shotgun and two live cartridges.  The recovered firearm was found in a red bag that Oluebube Ifediorah had on him, as several other members of the cult gang had managed to flee the scene into the surrounding bush.  TROOPS NEUTRALIZE TERRORISTS, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, CAPTURE ARMS IN SERIAL OPERATIONS ... AS NOTORIOUS BOKO HARAM FIGHTER SURRENDERS



Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for counter terrorism operations across the country in a display of unwavering courage and dedication on Monday 29 July 2024 conducted series of operations that resulted in the rescue of abducted persons, neutralization of a notorious terrorist, interception of illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO) and seizure of arms. A notorious Boko Haram fighter also surrendered to the troops.


In Kogi State, troops responded swiftly to a distress call along the Obajana Oshokoshoko road, where some civilians were abducted and taken into the forest. The troops moved in swiftly to locate the victims, where they had fierce gun battle with the kidnappers and successfully extricated the hostages.  


Similarly , in Benue State, troops acting on actionable intelligence engaged terrorists  in a fierce battle along the Gbeji Afia road in Benue State. The valiant troops neutralized one of the terrorists, captured one AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorbike, thereby preventing a potential attack, and ensuring the safety of the local community.


 In another operation, troops in Imo State acting on credible intelligence intercepted a vehicle transporting 21 sacks of illegally refined diesel (AGO). The troops also apprehended armed individuals who were hired to escort the illegal product.


In another development in Borno State, a notorious Boko Haram fighter named Babakarami Balawan has surrendered to troops in Bama Local Government Area, following aggressive onslaught on terrorists' hideoutsin the area. Items recovered from the terrorist are one AK 49 rifle, a magazine, and a bicycle.  The same troops during an encounter neutralized 2 terrorists and recovered 11 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 3 rounds of 5.56 mm x 45mm NATO ammunition and 3 empty magazines. 


Relatedly, the gallant troops also rescued a woman and her 2 children in a search operation in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state. 


The Nigerian Army's unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and dismantling criminal networks is crystallized in these recent operations. Citizens are encouraged to support the troops by providing valuable information to help rid the society of criminal elements while ensuring a safer and more secure country for all.
