As Africans, we are one; let's leave politics to politicians and play football - South Africa captain Ronwen Williams urges football fans in Africa and other countries to unite. Recall that South Africa's FIFA World Cup campaign got off to a disappointing start with a 2 - 0 defeat to Mexico in their opening match, and they finished the game with nine men after two players were sent off. The result quickly became a trending topic across social media, with other African nations taking the opportunity to drag South Africa. The reactions were influenced by the repeated xenophobic attacks in South Africa that have targeted migrants from other African nations, including Nigeria and Ghana. Those incidents sparked widespread condemnation across the continent and forced many affected migrants to flee their homes and return to their countries of origin. Ahead of South Africa’s next fixture against Czechia, Ronwen has appealed to Africans to unite as one. Watch video below.

 Kenya, U.S close in on critical minerals deal


"We've agreed with them on what is mutually beneficial between Kenya and the United States, and President Trump and the American administration are happy with it."


The deal reflects a wider push by African countries to move away from decades-old models of exporting raw materials, as competition intensifies between Western nations and China over access to resources needed for the energy transition and advanced technologies.


"It's the same thing that they are doing in DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) to make sure that whatever agreements, whatever deals are being fashioned are deals that benefit the country," Ruto said.


"These natural resources can no longer be exported and processed elsewhere. They have to be processed in-country and in-continent. We have to create value out of them," he said.
