Man crashes car through Florida airport gate, boards planes before being arrested

A man accused of drunk driving crashed his car through a gate at Daytona Beach International Airport on Wednesday and briefly entered several planes before being apprehended.

Body camera footage released by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office shows deputies speaking with 58-year-old Bryan J. Parker of Holly Hill. When asked about the incident, Parker, handcuffed and seated on the ground, replied, “I don’t remember,” admitting he had consumed alcohol and used drugs earlier in the day.

Authorities said they were alerted around 4:23 p.m. that a blue Ford Mustang had broken through a locked airport gate. Witnesses reported the vehicle drove onto the taxiway near the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University section of the airport, narrowly missing a taxiing plane. The airport confirmed Parker drove onto a secondary runway but stated that main runway operations were not affected, and safety officers responded immediately.

After exiting his car, Parker attempted to enter an occupied plane but failed. He then approached two other unoccupied aircraft, briefly getting inside one. Airport staff chased him, removed him from the plane, and placed him on a truck’s tailgate, but Parker jumped off and ran toward another plane before deputies finally detained him.

Parker was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on multiple charges, including attempted aircraft piracy, burglary of a conveyance, felony trespass, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, DUI with damage, and refusal to submit to DUI testing.
