GOOD FRIDAY DRAMA TURNS TRAGIC AS STUDENT HOSPITALISED AFTER 'JESUS' ROLE BEATING

A second-year law student at Kampala International University, Dennis Zziwa, has been hospitalised after sustaining injuries while portraying Jesus Christ during a Good Friday Way of the Cross reenactment in Uganda.

The incident occurred at the Our Lady of Africa Church in Mbuya during the annual Good Friday procession, a religious event that symbolically recreates the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Zziwa, who played the role of Jesus, reportedly endured intense physical scenes as part of the passion play. During the reenactment, he was subjected to beatings intended to depict the biblical narrative.

However, the performance took a distressing turn when the physical impact left him injured, prompting immediate concern among participants and organisers.

Red Cross personnel stationed at the venue swiftly administered first aid before he was transferred to Lamone Health Center in Luzira for further medical attention and observation.

Witnesses at the scene described the moment as “shocking,” noting that the situation escalated beyond expectations during the performance.

Church officials are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
