BTS is set to make history this summer as one of the headline performers at the first ever halftime show during a FIFA World Cup final.

FIFA organisers announced that BTS will share the global stage with Madonna and Shakira during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.

The halftime show, produced by Global Citizen, will mark a historic first for FIFA, which has never previously hosted a halftime performance during its championship match.

The 11 minute spectacle will reportedly be curated by Chris Martin and will also feature appearances from Sesame Street and Muppets characters as part of a multigenerational celebration.

In a statement, BTS said it was a “tremendous honor” to perform on a stage shared by audiences around the world and added that music remains a universal language of hope and unity.

The performance will also support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aimed at expanding access to education and sports opportunities for children in underserved communities.

The announcement has sparked massive excitement globally, with fans already calling it one of the biggest entertainment moments in World Cup history.
