 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

 LASODA SUPPORTS 20 DISABILITY GROUPS WITH N20 MILLION FOR AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS


The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has disbursed #20 million to 20 Disability groups to support advocacy and awareness campaigns ahead of the 2026 International Disability Day celebration.


Speaking during the presentation held recently at the Alausa Secretariat, the General Manager, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s continued commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.


In her words, “Today, each beneficiary group will receive one million naira to strengthen advocacy efforts and improve awareness of disability-related issues across the state.”


Beneficiaries of the support include the Lupus Foundation, the Dwarf Group, the Hearing-Impaired Cluster for the Deaf, and the Spinal Cord Injury Association Lagos, among others.


She urged the groups to ensure that the funds are properly utilised for programmes that will directly benefit their members and advance disability inclusion.


The LASODA boss also reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities in line with its broader social protection and inclusion agenda.


The beneficiary groups commended the Lagos State Government and LASODA for the support, noting that the intervention would enhance their welfare programmes and strengthen outreach efforts within their communities.
