 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

POLICE ARRESTS ELEVEN (11) SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVERS ONE BERETTA PISTOL, ONE LOCALLY MADE REVOLVER PISTOL, ONE ENGLISH-MADE PUMP ACTION GUN, 40 ROUNDS OF LIVE CARTRIDGES, AND OTHER WEAPONS IN SEPARATE OPERATIONS

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its offensive against cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other violent crimes across the State, leading to the arrest of eleven suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and dangerous weapons in separate intelligence-led operations.

1. ARREST OF NINE SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVERY OF ONE BERETTA PISTOL, ONE BATTLE AXE, ONE CUTLASS

On 14 May 2026 at about 1109hrs, operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team, acting on a distress call, raided a suspected cultist hideout at Eagle Square along Okpanam Road, Asaba, suspected to be a hideout used for cult-related activities. The operation led to the arrest of seven male suspects and two female suspects during which one Beretta pistol, one battle axe, and one cutlass were recovered. The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the Command Anti-Cult Unit for further investigation.

2. ARREST OF A SUSPECT IN POSSESSION OF ONE PUMP ACTION GUN, FORTY (40) ROUNDS OF LIVE CARTRIDGES

In a separate operation on 14 May 2026 at about 0900hrs, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol Team, during routine stop-and-search duty along the Ughelli/Patani Road, intercepted a Lexus Jeep with registration number KWL 139 CY driven by one Felix Ike. A thorough search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of one English-made pump action gun and forty rounds of live cartridges. The suspect is in custody while investigation is ongoing. 

3. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULT KINGPIN, RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE REVOLVER PISTOL

Similarly, on 15 May 2026 at about 1230hrs, operatives acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command anti-cult unit arrested one Christopher Ogidigbo, aged 28 years, of Ogharaefe Town in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, identified as a suspected kingpin of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity (SVC). One locally made revolver pistol was recovered from the suspect during the operation. Investigation is ongoing to ascertain his possible involvement in other criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commended the operatives for their professionalism and proactive response, reiterating the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities across the State.
