 Legal icon ,Prof Azinge Emerges New Asagba of Asaba A former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has emerged as the 14th Asagba of Asaba, Delta State. The Asagba-in-Council announced his selection as the most qualified among the 10 contenders in the race, who hail from Ugbomanta quarters and is to produce the next Asagba after Prof. Chike Edozien, who had since joined his ancestors. The Ochendo Ahaba (Regent), Anthony Edozien, announced the result of the selection process in line with the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Edict of 1979, applicable to Delta State, on Sunday at the Palace of the Asagba of Asaba at Ezenei quarters, Asaba. He said, “Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has been selected among 10 contenders after due process. “He will be coronated in due course.” Other contenders, apart from Prof. Azinge, are Tony Ogugua Konwea, Prof. Emmanuel Onwuka and Ogbuechi Chinedu Esealuka, among others.

When asked about the support they received, Olatoye stated that everything was self-funded, including training, coaching, medical expenses, and competition fees. She emphasized that it wasn’t until they reached the championship stage that they heard about potential grants, which barely covered two per cent of their four-year training expenses.  Man files lawsuit against hospital for allegedly losing part of his skull A patient is suing an Atlanta hospital, claiming they lost part of his skull that was removed during surgery. The alleged mistake cost the patient $146,000, according to the lawsuit. A lawsuit filed against Emory Hospital says Fernando Cluster had brain surgery at the Midtown location in September 2022 after suffering a stroke. The surgery involved removing a piece of Cluster’s skull known as the bone flap,WANF reports. A subsequent surgery to reattch the bone flap was scheduled for November 2022.  Naira down to N1,600/$ in parallel market The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1, 600 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,590 per dollar last weekend. However, the Naira appreciated to N1,579.22 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM fell to N1,579.22 per dollar from N1,579.89 per dollar last week Friday, indicating 67 kobo appreciation for the naira. The volume of dollars traded in the market increased by 41.4 per cent to $162.99 million from $115.23 million traded last weekend. Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NAFEM rate widened to N20.78 per dollar from N10.11 per dollar last week Friday.

 Abducted Kaduna Lecturer Regains Freedom After 31 Days In Captivity Ismail Sahabi, a lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State and public commentator, has regained freedom from kidnappers’ den. It was learnt that Sahabi, who was abducted at Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state along with his brother, Sidi Aliyu Sahabi, and others were released on Friday. The victims who are residents of Tudun Wada, Zaria, were abducted at Kasuwar Magani where they were farming and spent 31 days in captivity.
