NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. It was reported today that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has set up a five man committee on recovery of state government vehicles from unauthorised persons and locations.The committee has the state's former Commissioner for Natural Resources,Solagbade Amodeni,as Chairman and Mr Lawrence Akintunde as Secretary.Other members are the Senior Special Assistants {SSA} to the governor on security matters; Mr Jimoh Dojumo,Mr Yusuf S. and Mr Odunayo Kolawole.The committee which has six weeks to submit its report,has been directed to recover all government vehicles within and outside the state.In a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to Governor Akeredolu,Mr Olugbenga Ale,the state government expressed worry over the number of vehicles in the possession of unauthorised persons.''A number of government vehicles are in possession of unauthorised persons and locations,contrary to the rules and regulations guiding the use of government vehicles.To this end,the Governor of Ondo State,Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN,has approved the constitution of a Committee on Recovery of State Government Vehicles from unauthorised persons and location,'' the statement read.The committee is expected to carry out its responsibility with the support of security agencies,in the case of those who may not want to release the vehicles voluntarily.The statement added that ''The committee will employ all legal means,including the use of minimal force where necessary to recover government vehicles''.
