 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. 44 contact-persons test negative, 2 results awaited, Deputy Governor reveals

Of the 104 persons believed to have had contacts with Borno’s Covid-19 index case, 48 persons have been tested and of them, 44 persons have tested negative to coronavirus while two persons tested positive and two results are being expected.
The state’s deputy governor who serves as chairman of the high powered response team, Umar Kadafur has revealed.
He said the two postive cases were those already announced from an update released by the National centre for Disease Control, NCDC on Monday night.
The deputy governor gave the update at the first in series of daily media briefings by his team, which held at the multipurpose hall of the government house on Tuesday afternoon.
Kadafur told journalists that Borno has four cases as at Tuesday evening which combines the index case, two persons who had contacts with him and a citizen of Borno state who tested positive in Gombe after he came in from Lagos. The citizen has been moved from Biu to an isolation centre in Maiduguri and he is being monitored.
He said the patient is currently being managed by his response team in Borno state.
The state’s commissioner of health, Dr Kwayabura explained that a competent team is in Pulka where an index case emanated, carrying out different measures.
He assured that the state’s response team was in control of the situation.
Commissioner for Home affairs, information and Culture, Babakura Abba Jato assured the public that the response team will be providing daily updates to keep everyone informed.More photos below.
