 By Michael Ezenwata

Teachers in Anambra State have joined other Civil Servants in the state in appreciating Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for the upward review of the salaries of Civil Servants in the state.

Their appreciation was conveyed through the Chairman Post Primary Schools Services Commission (PPSSC), Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu in a press statement in Awka.

According to Prof. Ikediugwu, the 5,000 newly recruited teachers already absorbed in schools across the state will remain grateful to the governor who provided them with the sum of N5,000 each for their transportation on the day they received their appointment letters.

She noted that the governor followed it up by approving across board the release of N15, 000 as Christmas bonus for workers in the state and the subsequent 10 per cent salary increase for them, which took effect in January this year.

The PPSSC boss announced that she commenced the supervision of Secondary Schools in the state this year with a visit to seven schools where she met with the newly recruited teachers to ascertain their progress on the job.

On the recent burning of the Local Government Headquarters at Ihiala and the destruction of some public utilities by suspected hoodlums, Prof. Ikediugwu said that anything destruction of government or personal property of individuals is not welcomed in Anambra State.

She explained that a lot of commitment was put into place in erecting such structures. (MOI)
