 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. Vice President Shettima Arrives In Beijing

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Beijing, China, on Monday to attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. 

The Vice President, was received at the Beijing International Airport by the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, Mr Li Yingjin, and the Deputy Director of the African Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Yu Yong.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Baba Jidda, was also on hand to receive the nation’s number two citizen.

He will join world leaders from over 130 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America at the Forum to deliberate on the theme, “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity.”

Shettima is also billed to hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders to promote the country’s trade and investment relations in line with the economic development agenda of the Tinubu administration.

The 2023 edition of the BRI, will mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), championed by the President of China, Xi Jinping, as an initiative for global infrastructure development strategy.

Beijing, the capital city of China, is wearing a new look in readiness to host leaders from all parts of the world.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will declare the summit open and deliver a keynote address at the opening ceremony on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
