Davido Extends Support To Rema Amid Health Concerns

Afrobeat sensation Davido has expressed solidarity with Rema’s choice to step away from performing in December 2023 over health issues.

The Calm Down singer broke the hearts of millions of fans when he cancelled his performances for the remainder of the year, citing the need for self-care.

Hours after the move, Davido, born David Adeleke, took to his social media platform to express solidarity with Rema.

“The job ain’t easy physically and mentally! You’ve done Africa and the world proud, beyond expectations. Get some rest, King #heisrema, come back stronger,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

Rema’s career has witnessed unprecedented success this year marked by the selling out of the renowned O2 Arena and successful tours across Europe, Asia, and North America among others.

His collaboration on the mega-hit Calm Down remix with Selena Gomez further solidified his global impact, making it the first by a Nigerian Afrobeats artist to feature on Spotify’s top 10 chart of most streamed tracks worldwide.

While recognising the need for rest, the news has left many Nigerians disheartened as their hopes of celebrating with Rema this December are now unfulfilled.
