 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. Davido Extends Support To Rema Amid Health Concerns

Afrobeat sensation Davido has expressed solidarity with Rema’s choice to step away from performing in December 2023 over health issues.

The Calm Down singer broke the hearts of millions of fans when he cancelled his performances for the remainder of the year, citing the need for self-care.

Hours after the move, Davido, born David Adeleke, took to his social media platform to express solidarity with Rema.

“The job ain’t easy physically and mentally! You’ve done Africa and the world proud, beyond expectations. Get some rest, King #heisrema, come back stronger,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

Rema’s career has witnessed unprecedented success this year marked by the selling out of the renowned O2 Arena and successful tours across Europe, Asia, and North America among others.

His collaboration on the mega-hit Calm Down remix with Selena Gomez further solidified his global impact, making it the first by a Nigerian Afrobeats artist to feature on Spotify’s top 10 chart of most streamed tracks worldwide.

While recognising the need for rest, the news has left many Nigerians disheartened as their hopes of celebrating with Rema this December are now unfulfilled.
