As part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo's agenda to create a healthy and livable Anambra through a clean, green, and sustainable environment, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Felix Odimegwu, led an enforcement team from the Environmental Health and Pollution Control Department in a clampdown exercise against illegal and unhealthy water bottling and sachet water factories in Awka.

During the exercise, the commissioner who warned that any water bottling factories operating without registration or failing to meet the state's standards will be shut down,  emphasized that the ministry will not tolerate any activities that compromise the health and well-being of citizens.

'We will continue to monitor and enforce compliance with environmental regulations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all,' he stated.

Director of the Environmental Health Department,  Mrs. Oluchi Nwankwu,  explained that proper sanitization of water factories is crucial for the health and well-being of Ndi Anambra

She warned that those who violate environmental laws and fail to comply with hygienic practices will face the full force of the law.

The director explained that the exercise was conducted to ensure compliance with environmental hygiene and prevent the outbreak of diseases.

She noted that environmental health officers had previously visited the affected area to educate the owners on the necessary steps, but they failed to comply.

Mrs. Nwankwu appealed to the people of Anambra State to prioritize their health and safety by consuming only certified and regulated water products, and to support the governor's vision of keeping Anambra clean, green, safe, and sustainable.
