PRESS RELEASE
Stop Threatening Our Great Party, "People's Democratic Party" on Social Media Platforms
Our attention has been drawn to a media statement making the rounds on some mushroom political platforms and other communication channels. We want to unequivocally state, very clearly, that the supremacy of our party, PDP, is beyond the half-baked ultimatum of 7 days.
Some days ago, a former member of Ebonyi state House of Assembly threatened to leave our party if the newly inaugurated Caretaker committee was not dissolved in 7 days. This was due to unfounded claims that the list was filled with non-party members, especially from the ruling opposition party in the state. According to the purported statement, he also alleged that the list only succeeded in accommodating three known PDP members in Ebonyi, which can at best be described as a figment of his own imagination and lie from the pit of hell.
This has always been the stock in trade of members who has gone to negotiate with the ruling party and now looking for excuses.
We want to remind those hell-bent on destroying the integrity of our party that some of you contested elections and lost, not due to the inability of our party to win elections. Very many of them including the one threatening to leave went backdoors, connived with other candidates, collected money, and jeopardized the chances of our party winning elections in their constituencies constituencies. As a party, we will not join issues with you or make further elaboration on this matter rather we challenge him to show us copies of election results of his polling booth and ward in the last General elections.
It is worthy to mention that the man threatening the party had immediately after the election unofficially defected to APC so that he can sustain himself economically.
We have noticed with dismay how some misguided elements are masquerading as leaders even when they are still holding political appointment of the ruling opposition party.
PDP in Southeast has come to stay. We encourage aggrieved members to sheath their sword and support the State Working Committee (SWC) to put the party on track.
As party members, we should respect constituted authority/protocols within our party and stop spreading falsehood and unsubstantiated claims on media platforms otherwise the party will be forced to wield the big stick. God bless PDP.
E-signed;
Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali
Media Director, Southeast.
