UPS driver that saved an elderly woman's life has adopted her as his new grandmother and visits her weekly in the hospital.
Back in August UPS driver Raheem Cooper was having a normal day while making his deliveries, but everything changed when his life intersected with Marie Coble.
While Raheem had stopped to make a delivery in Valdosta, GA he was shocked to find an elderly woman collapsed on a nearby driveway. Raheem called 911 and stayed with the woman to make sure the woman was safe.
Once in the hospital the woman was identified as Marie Coble and it was determined she had suffered a subdural hematoma. Marie underwent emergency brain surgery and is slowly rehabbing. Doctors told family members had it not been for the intervention of Raheem, their loved one would have lost her life.
With this information, Marie's granddaughter Kayla Cochran took it upon herself to find Raheem's phone number and personally thank him.
However the goodwill between Raheem and the family would not end there. Five days after surgery, Raheem dropped in for a visit and Marie who had not spoken since surgery, brightened immediately and pushed herself up to hug Raheem!
Raheem is visiting weekly and delivering Marie's favorite snack, Twinkies. Raheem also started a GoFundMe to help Marie's family with expenses. He has stated Marie is his grandmother now and they are family.
Cooper was awarded by UPS with a special luncheon and a plaque along with a letter from the company's CEO and Flordia State University tickets.
Raheem however doesn't see himself as a hero and thinks the true story is in the lifelong connection made from a simple act of kindness.
Great job, Raheem!
We hope Marie makes a full recovery!
