 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being.  Nigeria @ 64: Anambra Speaker urges Nigerians to sustain legacies of founding fathers

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Somtochukwu Udeze has urged Nigerians to sustain the legacies which the foremost nationalists and elder statesmen bequeathed to them to enable their efforts and vision to endure.


The call was contained in the speaker's statement to mark Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary, released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Emma Madu, on Tuesday in Awka.


Udeze expressed the hope that Nigeria would be great and prosperous again and charged the people to see the peace, unity and development of the country as a collective responsibility.


"Our founding fathers offered selfless service and sacrificed towards the growth and development of the country.


"The prevalent economic challenges In Nigeria is not the wish of Nigeria's founding fathers and the will of God.


"Therefore, these incessant economic hardship is surmountable with positive approach and rightful disposition by the leaders and the led.


"I call on religious and political leaders as well as the masses to seek the face of God through prayer for the revival of the country. Because Nigeria has all it takes to bounce back to the era of economic boom and adequate security of lives and property," he said.


Udeze commended those in leadership positions who have continued to use their offices to improve the living standard of the masses.
