 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Illegal Taxation: Onitsha South LG Legislature Passes First Reading To Checkmate Revenue

To checkmate illegal activities in Onitsha South Local Government Area, lawmakers have initiated a bill to streamline revenue collection, tackling multiple taxations and illicit ticketing. The legislation, which has undergone its first reading, aims to bring order to the revenue collection process


Rt.Hon.Regina Udeogalanya who presided over the Congress introduced the sponsor of the bill, Mr. Franklin Uchenna Onyeke, who is also the Deputy leader (Councillor Odoakpu Ward 1), to the congress to read out the content of the bill.


According to Mr. Onyeke, any state-authorized revenue collectors wishing to operate in Onitsha South will need to register with the local government authority. "This bill will restore normalcy and create a friendly environment which is in line with the vision of the Mayor and Mr. Governor", Onyeke affirmed. 


 Hon Okoro Emmanuel, Hon Ugwu Ngozi, Hon. Chinonye Ohaka, Hon. Marcel  Onwumah and Hon. Obinna Osuji stated that the bill, if passed the final stage in the house and assented to by the Mayor, Chief Emeka Orji, is believed would  address and curtail multiple tax collections, misappropriation, and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government. Hon. Chidi Ogbuagu asserted that the attention of the local government Mayor should be drawn and a copy of the motion should be served to him in conjunction with the legislative congress.


Rt. Hon Regina said that there is need to summon all the revenue collectors and their quasi-associations to scrutinize and unify the system.


A six-man committee was appointed to  look into the matter and it included;  Marcel Onwuma  (chairman), Chinonye Ohaka  (Secretary), Frank Onyeke  (member), Linus Onyenekwe (member), Ngozi Ugwu (member) and Elo Onyeagwa (member)


 The session was adjourned till the third week of January when the committee will report back to the house.
