 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Fintiri Appoints Emirs for Newly Created Emirates in Adamawa


Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has appointed emirs and chiefs for the seven newly established emirates. According to the governor’s spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou, the appointments were made based on merit and the popularity of the selected individuals.  


The appointments follow the passage of the “Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) and Matters Incidental Thereto” law by the State House of Assembly on December 10, 2024, and its subsequent signing into law by Governor Fintiri on December 16. This legislation empowers the governor to create new emirates and depose incapacitated traditional rulers.  


The newly appointed traditional rulers are:  

- HRH Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu: Emir of Fufore  

- HRH Barrister Alheri B. Nyako: Tol Huba  

- HRH Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga: Mbege Ka Michika  

- HRH Dr. Ali Danburam: Ptil Madagali  

- HRH Aggrey Ali: Kumu of Gombi  

- HRH Ahmadu Saibaru: Emir of Maiha  

- HRH John Dio: Gubo Yungur  


Governor Fintiri congratulated the new leaders and urged them to uphold fairness, honesty, and responsibility in their roles. The appointments take immediate effect.
