 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Oyo Launches Free Health Insurance for 10,000 Primary School Pupils


The Oyo State Government has officially launched the enrollment of 10,000 public primary school pupils into its health insurance scheme.


Speaking at the flag-off event in Ibadan, Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring a healthy learning environment for children. The initiative covers 90 schools across 18 local government areas, with enrolled pupils receiving insurance scheme ID cards.


UNICEF Lagos Field Office Chief, Celine Lafoucriere, praised the initiative, stating that it aligns with efforts to achieve universal health coverage, ensuring no child is denied healthcare due to financial constraints. She emphasized that access to healthcare supports education, economic growth, and poverty reduction.


The Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Nureni Adeniran, and Executive Secretary of OYSHIA, Olusola Akande, reaffirmed their commitment to the program’s successful implementation, describing it as a major step toward expanding healthcare access for children across the state.
