 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Atiku Insists on Coalition to Unseat Tinubu in 2027, Despite PDP Governors’ Rejection


Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reaffirmed his commitment to forming a coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, despite opposition from 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors. The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, declared on Monday after a meeting in Ibadan that the party would not join any coalition or merger.


On March 20, 2025, Atiku, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, alongside Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, announced a coalition to defeat Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC). The move has sparked debate, with Atiku advocating for opposition unity to reclaim power.


In their communiqué, the governors stated that the PDP, as a major opposition force, welcomes individuals or groups willing to join the party but rejected any coalition. “The PDP will not join any coalition or merger,” Mohammed said, emphasizing the party’s goal of establishing good leadership in 2027.


Responding through his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku described the governors as key PDP stakeholders but insisted the coalition is a “pan-Nigerian movement” driven by the people. He highlighted internal polling that supported the coalition strategy and called the governors’ stance a prompt for broader consultation, not a setback. “When the governors realize this project has its own momentum, they will align properly,” Atiku said, stressing that Nigerians’ ownership of the initiative makes it resilient.
