 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Abakaliki FC Official Bus Involved in Accident on Benin-Ore Expressway, No Injuries Reported


The official bus carrying officials of Abakaliki Football Club, runners-up in the 2025 President Federation Cup, was involved in a road accident on Sunday along the Benin-Ore Expressway near Ondo. The incident occurred as the team returned to Ebonyi State from Lagos, where they competed in the cup final on Saturday, losing 4-3 to Kwara United in a penalty shootout at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.


According to a statement posted on the club’s official Facebook page, the accident was caused by brake failure, resulting in a collision with a moving truck. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported. 


The club expressed gratitude for the safety of all involved, stating, “To God be the glory, no injury and no life was lost. On our way back from Lagos after our yesterday’s President Federation Cup finals to Ebonyi State today (29/6/2025), one of our vehicles (official’s bus) failed brake along Ondo express highway and hit a moving truck at the back. We thank God, we all are safe and sound.”


The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on major Nigerian highways. Abakaliki FC has not provided further details on the condition of the vehicle or next steps, but the club’s statement underscores relief at the absence of casualties.
