 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey.  ANAMBRA POLICE RESCUES SUSPECT FROM JUNGLE JUSTICE AFTER ALLEGED MURDER AND CONCEALMENT OF BODY PARTS IN A REFRIGERATOR AT OKPOKO.


The Anambra State Police Command Operatives attached to the Okpoko Division on 2nd September 2025 rescued a suspect from an attempted jungle justice after he was alleged to have murdered a 25-year old male and concealed the victim’s dismembered body inside a refrigerator at Okpoko. 


The suspect later identified as Leberechi, other names unknown, and about 30 years of age was already in an unconscious state before he was arrested. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention and is currently under armed guard to prevent escape. 


The Operatives visited the scene of the murder and discovered the decomposed body parts of the victim hidden inside a refrigerator. The remains were subsequently evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD has directed immediate transfer of the Case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for a thorough investigation and to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
