 HAJJ 2026: 1600 LAGOS PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAFELY FROM MAKKAH The 1,600 Lagos pilgrims who participated in the just-concluded Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have all arrived safely to join their respective families. The safe arrival of the last and final batch of 187 pilgrims on Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations. Speaking to journalists at the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode said that the spiritual exercise was a success for Lagos State. The Commissioner who attributed the success to the exemplary conduct of the pilgrims while in the Holy Land maintained that the State also made adequate arrangements by engaging critical stakeholders ahead of the journey.  BENUE: ROAD ACCIDENT OCCURS AROUND MASAJE IN GBOKO

Gboko, Benue State –A road accident occurred on Tuesday around Masaje community in Gboko Local Government Area, causing panic among commuters and residents in the area.


Eyewitnesses said the crash involved a commercial vehicle and a motorcycle, though the exact cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained. Some victims reportedly sustained injuries, while others escaped unhurt.


Residents of Masaje rushed to the scene to render first aid before the arrival of security operatives and local emergency responders. Traffic was temporarily disrupted as passersby gathered around the accident spot, leading to a brief gridlock.


As at the time of filing this report, the number of casualties and the condition of those injured had not been officially confirmed. Authorities of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gboko were yet to release an official statement on the incident.


Community members have since appealed for urgent measures, including better road signage and enforcement of traffic rules, to prevent further accidents along the route, which has become notorious for road mishaps.
