 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem.  Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez arrested on felony assault charge

Former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports commentator Mark Sanchez was released from an Indianapolis hospital on Sunday and immediately booked on a felony battery charge following an altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver last week, according to local authorities.

The 38-year-old Sanchez was taken into custody at the Marion County Jail and faced three additional misdemeanor charges. While booking photos are typically held until Monday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released his image on Sunday, citing significant public interest. Sanchez has since been released from jail.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Oct. 4 while Sanchez was in Indianapolis with his Fox Sports team to cover a game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Police said Sanchez allegedly confronted truck driver Perry Tole at a hotel loading dock over parking. The dispute escalated when Sanchez allegedly entered Tole’s truck, preventing him from calling for help, which led to a physical confrontation.

Court documents indicate Tole used pepper spray to defend himself and ultimately stabbed Sanchez, who suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso. Tole sustained a severe laceration to his cheek during the fight. Authorities described the incident as a “violent” and “unprovoked” attack. Tole has also filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox Sports.

Sanchez’s lawyers previously secured permission for him to travel outside Indiana. His family released a statement expressing gratitude for the support they have received and noting that Sanchez is focused on his recovery as legal proceedings continue.
