MEC Wants Arrested SAPS Members to Face Full Wrath of the Law

The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, has called for firm action against four Limpopo police officers who were arrested in connection with a house robbery in Lydenburg.

The suspects, Sergeant Lesiba Lucky Shogole (40) and Constable Malesela Daniel Huma (34) from the Polokwane 10111 Flying Squad, Constable Thapelo McDonald Ledwaba (34) from the Mahwelereng K9 Unit, and Constable Nthabiseng Sarafina Senama (34) from Lebowakgomo SAPS, appeared in the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 October 2025. They were arrested on Friday, 10 October 2025.

MEC Macie condemned their alleged involvement, saying those found guilty must face the full consequences of their actions.

“The allegations are damning and serious. We do not have a place in policing for criminals. We want honest and diligent members who remain loyal to their duty of protecting communities and arresting suspects,” he said.

He urged the SAPS to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that anyone else involved is brought to justice. The MEC also encouraged hardworking officers not to be discouraged by the actions of “a few rogue elements,” but to continue serving communities with integrity.

The arrested officers and a civilian suspect allegedly used a marked SAPS vehicle and a Toyota bakkie during the robbery, which took place last week.
